The Raggies faded in the second half against Mitcham on Saturday to go down by 16 points at Price Memorial Oval. The Raggies were up by 15 points at half time and kicked the first 2 goals of the third to go 27 points up and looked to be powering home. Mitcham had other ideas and piled on the next 6 goals to lead by 9 points at the last change. The Raggies kicked the first goal early in the last quarter through Mark Langman to get within a kick but Mitcham held firm and recorded the 16 point win.

The first half was extraordinary with accurate kicking for goal, the scoreline 8.0 to 7.0 before the first behind was kicked by Mitcham at the 15 minute mark of the second quarter. However, Mitcham's fourth goal should have been a behind with the goal umpire making a howler of a decision calling a goal when it could be argued the ball was closer to out on the full. This instigated a 4 goal onslaught from Mitcham. Jesse Orlando was everywhere for the Raggies kicking all 3 goals for the visitor in the third term and having 4 for the half.

Justin Sheedy was everywhere all day, Kyle Clayton and Scott Sullivan also very good in the middle. Youngster Mark Langman was solid all day, Heath Fitzpatrick along with Mick Newell battled hard up back and Evan Pontt was good around the ground. Peter Fisher had his moments on his wing and Steve Willment took some strong marks leading up but Mitcham had a few more winners overall.

Raggies will really need to regroup and hopefully with some big ins for the Anzac Day clash against Plympton they can rally and get this season underway.

A poor start by the Raggies in the Anzac Day clash against Plympton cost them dearly as they were unable to bridge the gap of 7 unanswered goals in the first quarter. The Raggies eventually going down by 4 goals, 17.12 to 13.12.

The Raggies got back into the game in the second quarter through some good work by Kyle Clayton who kicked the first 2 goals of the quarter. Plympton kicked back and their lead at half time was still a commanding 6 goals.

Matt Leigh set the game alight in the 3rd quarter when moved to the goal square and booted 5 majors in an exciting period of the game. He also took a hanger on the goal line that wasn't paid by the umpire to the surprise of the huge crowd in attendance. The Raggies had got back to within 3 goals but then gave away a couple of 25m penalties which broke the momentum and let Plympton off the hook. The Raggies also hit the post twice in the quarter which was heartbreaking.

The last quarter was Plympton's early but the Raggies kicked a couple of late goals for the final 4 goal margin. Justin Sheedy was again brilliant, Mick Newell was good across half back, Matt Leigh was awesome in the third quarter, Peter Fisher found space and provided plenty of carry and run on his wing, and Dylan Sykes was a big presence across half forward in his best game for his new club.

An 'Anzac Medal' was presented on the day to the best player on the ground. The medal was presented to Daniel Roach (number 6) from Plympton.

There was a large crowd at the game with special guest ex-serviceman Richard "Dickie" Searle reading the Ode and presenting the medal after the game. It was a great day except for the final result.
